  • This is one of my most asked questions! While Kauai is known for its rain (“garden isle”/tropical island and all) I rarely have to reschedule sessions. A rainy forecast doesn’t usually mean all day! Rain showers are often quick or happen in the middle of the night. I try to go out and attempt to photograph rain or shine, and if needed we can pop under cover for a minute, duck under trees, and use a few towels to dry off. We can even embrace the rain for some fun, memorable shots. If it is absolutely not letting up, we can discuss the possibility of rescheduling. No matter what, we’ll get beautiful images and remember, rain brings rainbows!

  • I recommend neutral colors, muted earth tones, or complementary colors. White or off whites, blues, tans, and greens looks especially beautiful with our Kauai colors! Some people want to have a pop of a bright color, or pastel tones. Please make sure to avoid large logos and busy patterns. Another tip I have is to make sure you have worn the outfit a bit before the session, as it may be itchy or uncomfortable, and that wouldn’t be a pleasant thing to find out mid shoot! Also, make sure to bring extra hair ties or bobby pins for anyone with long hair, just in case we get a windy beach day!

  • Absolutely! I just have a few recommendations that I know work. I offer most of my photo sessions at Shipwreck's Beach on the south side. It is my #1 location because it offers a variety of different looking spots, all within a short walking distance. I have also done many sessions at Poipu Beach and Kalapaki Beach, but I only offer sunrise photo sessions at these two locations due to crowds later in the day. A few good sunset spots are Salt Pond and Waimea Plantation Cottages Beach. Mahaulepu is also a gorgeous spot with great green cliff views, but it requires a slight trek from the parking area and is accessed via a dirt road, making it a lot less easily accessible. I also offer stunning north shore sessions with an additional $100 travel fee, and my favorites up there are Hanalei Bay and Haena Beach!

  • I primarily shoot at sunrise or sunset, as those offer the best lighting, color, and temperature! If you are able to get up and out early, I prefer sunrise. It is more clear of people on the beach, and there is just a quality of light that is so stunning at that time! Also, it leaves the whole rest of the day for you, and if you are still not adjusted to the time difference, and used to mainland USA, Canada, or Mexico time zones, you may be waking up incredibly early anyway. Sunset is very popular, and also absolutely stunning. If you cannot do a photoshoot at either of those times for any reason, I also offer other early morning and late afternoon times (I just try to book the premium times of sunrise and sunset first, if you don’t have a preference otherwise).

  • I use the real beauty of the island in my sessions, as the natural light of Kaua’i is stunning, so I am purely a natural light photographer. I always get a mix of candid and posed images in my shoots, to make sure we get the most variety. You will definitely get your traditional “Christmas card” type photos on my sessions, as well as mixing it up with some unposed and creative photos in the moment! After our session, I will edit the photos in my editing style. My style is vibrant with a pop! I also love some dramatic skies. I don’t offer heavy “magazine style” beauty retouching or photoshop body modification, but can absolutely do basic additional photoshop work on your final photos (such as light/subtle skin smoothing, flyaways, distracting objects out of the background, or fixing minor sunburn). You can simply request those edits after you get your gallery sent to you.

  • I deliver a gallery of all (useable) edited photos from our photo session within 2 weeks of our session date! Or, if you’d like a rushed delivery, I offer 48 hour delivery for an additional $50. Your gallery includes high-resolution images with printing rights for personal use, or you can order prints for an additional cost through your gallery as well.

  • Please reach out to let me know which session length and date you are interested in, I can send you my availability, and we can plan a bit. I take a $50 deposit to officially reserve the photo session once you confirm the date&time. This deposit is applied towards the total cost, and would be fully refunded if you cancel at least 24 hours out from the photo session, or if we have to cancel at the time of the shoot due to medical reasons, weather, or another emergency at that time, with no option to reschedule.
